REBEKAN, Commonia- At the annual Commonian Confederation (CC) conference in 2017 yesterday, for the first time ever since the existence of the CC, the new president Zhongcai Gao introduced new policies and reforms in the Commonian Confederation Government.
The Commonian Confederation is the de facto dictatorial government of the majority of Commonia. Its control encompasses around a half of the country (mainly the west side) and it possesses a considerably larger sphere of influence. It is not and has never been recognised by the Assembly of Nations (AN) or any other country as a country, but rather only a government. It was formed after the wars of the 1970s, when the Fascist Republic of Commonia gradually devolved into the Commonian Confederation.
Mr. Zhongcai Gao, 63, became the new president since the previous president Betel Makke died unfortunately in a car accident. Much to the delight of 63% of the Commonians under the CC, he was elected very recently prior to the conference.
Such reforms include reshuffling the government, reviewing the CC's policies over Commonia and establishing formal ties with other countries. The new president also promised to rebuild infrastructure for the many homeless Commonians affected by the wars and conflicts in Commonia, revalue the Commonian Buc, which value has dropped so low, sweep out corrruption, and also hold a proper, fair general election for a single, proper government in Commonia. These, the president said, are for a better and united Commonia.
However, the AN is doubtful about the effectiveness of these measures. Issac Sean Leonard, new chief secretary to the Assembly of Nations Commonia Committee (ANCC), said, "By the time these measures were implemented, given the size and state of Commonia, it may be too late, or otherwise ineffective as it need full cooperation with other factions, organisations and governments (in Commonia)."
Larry Ulyss Ciano, chief secretary to the AN and also the head of the Social and Economic Council (SEC), said that the measures are slightly unrealistic. He said, "For example, rebuilding the infrastructure might not be fulfilled its purpose (for connecting the people and housing them) properly as many experienced developers in Commonia has withdrawn their contracts on building Commonia, or otherwise poor management of building. This is because they also need to build their own country, which I understand. The developers currently we have in Commonia are only temporary, and also inexperienced. They may also violate certain rules and did not follow the etiquette when developing the area, resulting in slight conflicts."
However, some say the measures may fulfill their purpose, considering the power of CC in governing Commonia recently. But these parties, were only the minority and most of them were only in support of the CC. The prime minister of West Commonia, however, wishes the new president good luck.
The new president is expected to go for a 10 week tour this June to Khaiwoon, and Pretany for an official visit, most likely to seek funds and advice on developing Commonia. (9 weeks by helicopter to Pretany and back via Khaiwoon) Meanwhile, the president seems to be slacking in his office after the conference.
Report from the Commonia National News (CNN)
I am not saying that Commonia may change, but just possibly see the effectiveness of the CC if they tried to make Commonia a better place.
